Work hour limits whilst studying in Australia
If you are granted permission to work as a student, there will be restrictions on the number of hours you will be allowed to work.
Work hour limits whilst studying in Aus:
Work limits as a student (condition 8105):
- You are allowed to work up to a maximum of 20 hours a week during the term (not including work that is a formal registered part of your course) and
- full-time during vacation periods.
Work limits as a member of a student’s family (condition 8104):
- You are allowed to work up to a maximum of 20 hours a week throughout the year for the duration of your visa.
Work limits as a member of a family unit under visa subclass 573 (undertaking a masters coursework), 574 (masters research or doctorate course), or 576 (AusAID or Defence-sponsored):
- You are allowed to work up to a maximum of 20 hours a week at all times (condition 8104), when you are studying any preliminary course;
- full-time when your course is not in session as long as you apply for permission to work after you start your masters or doctorate course
