Fremantle campus

Japanese students visit Notre Dame Notre Dame's Fremantle campus was the site of a recent visit by 60 Japanese exchange students on board a "floating university". The students were from Western Australia's sister state, the Hyogo prefecture. Spending a day on the Fremantle campus, the visitors were treated to some fine Australian hospitality.

"The Hyogo floating University visit is a wonderful program for both Australian and
Japanese students, said Student Life Officer, Phillipa Goorah.

"The opportunity to meet students from another culture allows a connection to be made where we can learn about one another and form relationships", she said.

Notre Dame to establish law school in Broome

The University of Notre Dame has decided to establish a branch from the Fremantle law
school in Broome. Notre Dame arrived at the decision after extensive consultation with interested stakeholders.

The university expressed gratitude towards all those who participated. The outcome is being hailed as progress for the university and the wider region and community.

"It demonstrates the University's commitment to the Kimberley region and indigenous
higher education, and our determination to further expand and develop our campus of
reconciliation", said the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Broome campus, Sister Sonia

Notre Dame wins Education award

Notre Dame student Loren Ferguson is the recipient of this year's annual award by the
Australian Literacy Educators' Association for literacy development and language
learning.

The Association works towards literacy development and language learning and the
selection criteria for the award involves demonstrating a commitment towards literacy and learning in the early years.

Ms Ferguson was presented with the award at the ALEA State Conference Dinner.
