Sydney Surgeon Guides French Face Transplant Team

For a French woman savagely mauled by a dog, it's a new face and a new lease of life and one which would not have been possible without the guidance of Sydney surgeon Professor Earl Owen.

The face transplant performed on the woman has been recorded as the world's first and Professor Owen argues that it was the only way to reconstruct her facial features so that it would be acceptable.

Professor Owen argues against plastic surgery saying that it would not restore mobility to the facial features.
