Study In Australia - Bridging Courses - Foundation Studies
What should I do if I don't meet the requirements for studying in Australia?
We recommend that international students seek advice from our Education Agency about meeting their entry requirements before applying for selected courses. English language support is usually available. All Australian universities, Colleges, TAFE's and schools have their own English language centre or have links with English language schools. If the English language proficiency score of international students is not sufficient, there are many English language courses with starting dates throughout the year to prepare for further study in Australia. We offer special work programs for Au Pair's where you may spend some hours a week working for a family whilst also learning English. The family provides you with free accommodation and you may have the opportunity to join them with family activities. If a student doesn't meet the entry requirements, Foundation Studies and Bridging Courses help prepare you for further studies in Australia. The Foundation Studies Program of Australian universities, colleges, TAFE's and schools are an excellent alternative pathway for university entry, offering many advantages for international students who decide to study in Australia. While you study to enter university/college, you will mix with Australian students and students from over 70 other countries.
Foundation studies are intensive one-year preparatory courses that will enable students to enter and complete an undergraduate course and reserve a provisional place in proposed courses. When students are accepted for the Foundation Studies Program, have successfully completed their Foundation Studies Program and have met the institution’s required academic and English standards, they will be granted entry to their selected course.
The Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) covers most courses and training completed by international students in Australia, on a student visa. However, there are also a number of courses for international students that are registered with the Australian Government and are not part of the AQF. Many of these courses help students to meet the entry requirements for further study or for a final AQF qualification.
These courses are called Foundation Studies or Bridging courses. One example would include the Master Qualifying program. Foundation Studies are split into business and science studies and offer a variety of mandatory and elective subjects. Some units in the Foundation Studies Program are university level courses. When students complete these units, they gain credit towards their undergraduate degree.
