Quenching a Thirst on the Driest Continent in the World

A study conducted by a Masters research student has found that Australia's indigenous inhabitants have an extensive knowledge of the land's water resources. Since about 70% of the Australian continent is arid or semi-arid, the indigenous inhabitants have adapted well to their harsh environment by digging underground water reservoirs and tunnels. The research was conducted by hydrogeologist and Masters research student Brad Moggridge. As part of his research, Mr. Moggridge used sources such as oral histories and dreamtime stories as well as written accounts from indigenous-western contact.
