The Sydney Morning Herald (25th March 2010) reported on the number of private college closures in recent months. Fourteen training colleges have collapsed in NSW over the past six months, throwing the education of thousands of international students into disarray.
The chief executive of the Migration Institute of Australia, Maurene Horder, predicted more private college closures from among the 1042 registered training organisations in NSW. "This isn't the first or the last of these private colleges we'll see close," Ms Horder said. "This is a painful time for the industry but with the Baird review, we can look towards greater stability and professionalism in the future."
